The Academics and Pedagogy team at the Azim Premji University consists of members with expertise in different school subjects (Math, Science, Languages & Social Sciences) in addition to specialising in different areas within the domain of education like philosophy, sociology, history of education etc, curriculum studies, child learning and assessment. The team works with teachers, teacher educators, university students and educational administrators in design and delivery of training programmes on various subjects and levels, university certification courses, customized workshops and other type of engagements. The team also works on several initiatives like preparation of teaching learning materials, publications, digital resources and seminars, all targeted toward improving the quality of education our children receive.

The Azim Premji Institutes manage and deliver programs in the field, addressing the specific needs of that state or district The Foundation is building a strong presence across states in India, to improve quality and equity of education at the grassroots. We work in the areas of teacher-education, school leadership and management, and community-school linkage. We need professionals who have understanding of Government schools, experience of designing capacity-building programmes and facilitating workshops. Azim Premji Foundation is in the process of setting up schools in every district in India to impart high quality education consistent with the Right to Education Act and goals of the National Policy on Education. Our schools currently run in Chattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. Our schools will:
  • Serve students between the ages of 3 and 18 years (Pre-School to Class 12).
  • Follow appropriate curriculum to further the goals enshrined in the Constitution of India.

IAA achieves this by spreading awareness of, and creating demand for, assessment / accreditation-driven quality improvements in the system. The Education Leadership and Management Team aims to improve Leadership and Management in the Education System in the country. While there is a lot of work being done to improve things within the class room ranging from Teacher Training to Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation and from Academics & Pedagogy to Improvements in Curriculums, this will only come good in a sustainable manner if we also improve the Leadership and Management capabilities of individuals and institutions. The indicative list of Individuals and Institutions in the education system:
  • Individuals like Head Teachers, Principals, Block Education Officers, Cluster Education Officers, Education Coordinators and Inclusive Education Resource Teachers.
  • Institutions like State Institute of Educational Management and Training (SIEMAT), District Institute of Educational Training (DIET), District Planning Commission (DPC), School Management Committee (SMC).

Knowledge Resource Centre is the knowledge management unit of the Foundation. It is currently organized into 4 work teams - Content Management Team creates and maintains online & face to face knowledge sharing platforms, Analytics & Informatics team works to increase the use of empirical evidence bases by providing access to refined & query-able data sets, Indigenous Knowledge and Language team works to increase all internal teams’ usage of non mainstream knowledge embodied in vernacular languages (academic and cultural) in both textual & non-textual forms, Library team works in all locations of APF to promote the culture of reading & knowledge assimilation among internal APF family & key stakeholders.
