Primary School Geonla, established in 1912, is one of the oldest schools in Dunda Block. The school is on the premises of the Cluster Resource Centre, Geonla, and is by the side of the road connecting Uttarkashi to Yamunotri.
“I met the parents personally to break the culture of silence prevailing among the students of our school. I started talking to them in Chhattisgarhi instead of Hindi,and it works” says Sanjay Kumar Patel, a teacher (Shiksha Karmee) of the Government Primary School, Saraitola (B).
It is 8.45 am and children are trickling in to Government Higher Primary School in Chilwadgi(6 km from Kalgeri cluster in Koppaltaluka). They keep their bags in the classrooms and rush to play. Some teachers who have already arrived join them and both get immersed in the game. The bond between children and teachers is evident as they argue over the game and form teams.
This is what the teachers in Honvadatota Higher Primary School in Bijapur district of Karnataka did when they opened the access to books to their students and entrusted them with the responsibility of managing their newly established library. They trusted the students with books, and to their surprise, all books remained intact even after 10 months.
Can a person who is short tempered change through a few sessions of training? Can he/she change to such an extent that his relationship with his/her children changes and he/she becomes a more approachable parent? Can people around him/her start feeling less inhibited and more comfortable? Is personality change possible through trainings?
