of Rajasthan and Azim Premji Foundation sign MoU

An
MoU for the second phase of the Learning Guarantee Program in Rajasthan
was signed between Azim Premji Foundation and the Government of
Rajasthan on 21st of October, 2008.
In
this phase of Learning Guarantee Program (spanning three years, i.e.
October 2008 - October 2011) Azim Premji Foundation will work, in
collaboration with the district level education officials, to improve
the quality of education in the Elementary Schools of Tonk and Sirohi
districts of Rajasthan through academic capacity building of
education functionaries and teachers and also take forward the
process of classroom reform through assessment reform.
The
first phase of the program in the two districts began the process of
creating awareness and accountability among teachers and
functionaries about the potential to create change in the classroom
by moving from rote learning assessment to assessment that tests for
conceptual understanding and application.
Similar
such MOUs exist with the Governments of Uttarakhand and Gujarat.
