Uttarakhand State Institute, Dehradun was established in the year 2011 and working along with three main dimensions as mentioned below;
- Resource Support and Material Development: Material Development and resource support to various agencies of the State, NGOs and Private Schools in various subjects.
- Communication and Engagement: Networking with State, NGOs, Youth and Teachers and development of active youth and teachers’ forums
- Information and Research Centre: Development of Activity Center and Library
The Library and Activity Centre (LAC) has a good collection of learning resources in various subject areas viz. Education, Philosopy, Sociology, Psychology, Political science, Development studies, Philosophy and Science. The collection is organized using Dewey Decimal classification scheme and uses AACR 2 for cataloging.
The LAC has been automated using Koha Library Management Software package for all the housekeeping operations and it subscribes to good number of print journals and magazines, newspapers along online access to international journals and databases. The collection includes audio visual materials, reports, data sets, teaching aids, etc. LAC has networked with the other local libraries in the region. The LAC has computing facility for walk in users.
LAC provides Online Public Access Catalogue, Reference Services, Inter Library Loan Service, New Arrivals Display List, Photocopy/Scaning, Document Delivery Service, News Clipping and provides the Space for Activity (Talent Creation).
