The Library and Activity Centre (LAC) provides LIS services to the APF members and needy public users and it also acts as Community Centre for information education purpose. LAC acts as a central point for engagement with all kinds of reading, access to information, knowledge building, deep thinking and lively discussions. The LAC possess a good collection of learning resources in various subjects viz. Education, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, Philosophy and Science. The collection is organized using Dewey Decimal classification scheme and uses AACR 2 for cataloging.
LAC provides various kinds of services such as New Arrival Service, Journal/Magazine Content Service, Weekly News Clipping Service. In seven activity centres established around the district in which talks, workshops and other activities for the benefit of teachers and students are conducted. LAC conducts series of activities such as: Meeting Informal Group of Teachers; Film shows for children; Art Activity with children; Discussion with research scholar & children on various current issues
The LAC subscribes to good number of print journals and magazines, newspapers along with online access to international journals and databases. The collection includes audio visual materials, reports, data sets, teaching aids, etc. LAC has networked with the other local libraries in the region. The LAC is automated using Koha and catalog is accessible online. Current Awareness Service, Reference Service, Document Delivery Service, Inter Library Loan, Photocopying, etc. provided to the users. The LAC has computing facility for walk in users.
The LAC provides library and information services to the following seven block libraries; Rudrapur; Sitarganj; Khatima; Gadarpur; Bazpur; Kashipur; Jaspur.
