Yadgir District Institute, Karnataka


Azim Premji Foundation has chosen Yadgir district to work for the development of the education sector in this region keeping in mind APF's vision to facilitate a just, equitable, humane and sustainable society. On 21st of Sept 2011 Yadgir district institute came into existence.

Prior to new district, Yadgir was one of the taluks in Gulbarga district. On 10th April 2010, it was officially declared as 30th district of Karnataka State. Yadgir District is dotted with many historical monuments, ancient temples, medieval mosques, tanks and wells. It is the second smallest district in the state. The district is known as “Daal bowl” of the state.

To support all the functions, activities, and educational & research needs of the DI members the District Institute Library and Activity Centre (LAC) has been established. It is not only serving the DI members, it also serves all people interested in education. It has all kinds of resources like Books, Periodicals, Reports, Manuals, AV Materials, TLM's etc.

Activities undertaken include facilitating informal groups of teachers and parents for dialogue over educational issues, screening films, guest lectures, fairs, theatre, writing events, hosting readers club and other workshops in regular interval along with ensuring availability of educational resources.
