From Workers to Warriors: How Frontline Workers are combating COVID-19 in India

Frontline Workers like Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs, also known as Sahiyasin some states), ASHA facilitators (ASHA Saathi/Sahayogini), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Mitanin (community health volunteer) and Mitanin Trainers are at the forefront of combating the COVID-19 Pandemic, especially in rural heartland of India. Yet, they face immense challenges as they go about helping millions across the length and breadth of India. Azim Premji University, as part of the Seeking Sustainability initiative, brings to you a discussion on the challenges and issues faced by the frontline Workers and what could be the solutions.
