Jharkhand

Jharkhand — the land of forests — is a state in eastern India that was initially a part of Bihar, and came into existence in 2000. It is the 15th largest state in terms of area and 14th in terms of population. Jharkhand is known for its waterfalls and religious places and its capital is Ranchi. Jharkhand accounts for more than 40% of mineral resources in India but has severe poverty and malnourishment and is primarily a rural population.

Our work in Jharkhand is in the ‘institutional mode’, building the professional capacities of key stakeholders through multiple modes of engagement via workshops, voluntary teacher forums, exposure visits, seminars, etc. We now work in the districts of Gumla and Ranchi.
