Teachers’ Circle

About the Teachers’ Circle

The Teachers’ Circle is a platform for teachers who are passionate about the cause of quality education for all children and are keen to continue learning in order to pursue this cause. The Teachers’ Circle brings together such like-minded teachers for a journey in reflective practice and collaborative learning. During their engagement with the Teachers’ Circle, teachers will undergo the following experiences:

  1. Summer / mid-year workshops: Teachers go through a 5 day summer workshop that addresses important areas of schooling like – education and society, how children learn, curricular planning, teaching effectively and student assessment. The mid-year workshop will get into further discussions on subject content and pedagogy.

  2. Co-creation of teaching plans and resources: Teachers get the opportunity to work with their peers in developing lesson plans, activities / project ideas, assessments and teaching resources. The groups provide teachers a platform for collaboration with other teachers, receive feedback and support.

  3. Learning forums: The Teachers’ Circle provides a forum for teachers to engage with peers across the district, learn from each other’s classroom experiences and discuss  common issues faced while teaching. Teachers try out these lessons in the classroom, document their classroom experiences and reflections. Teachers also participate in regular workshops on their subject and other topics of common interest.

  4. Resource support: Circle members receive personal copies of the resources developed by the group. They will also have access to additional teaching learning resources -books, periodicals, lesson plans, assessment activities and worksheets, audio-video resources, classroom displays etc. They will have special access to 4 Teachers’ Resource Centers in the district where they can access internet and printing facilities for developing teaching materials. They will also be able to book resources for use in their own classrooms – e.g. projectors, video cameras, audio players, science equipment etc

  5. Sharing effective practices: Members of the Teachers’ Circle will be able to share their work with other teachers and the broader education system in the district through a teachers’ portal, monthly magazine, learning festivals for students, bi-annual seminar for teachers and similar other forums.

Teachers meeting the participation norms will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the year. These norms include participation in the summer and winter workshop, attendance in the fortnightly working meetings and contribution of teaching resources to the group.
