While attempting to introduce ‘Tamil Reading’ in their classrooms the problems teachers face are multifaceted and no ONE strategy can be considered as the panacea of all reading problems. There is a need to understand the type (where and what kind) of problems teachers encounter in the process of making children read. A committed group of teachers came forward to work with the foundation to and conduct action research in their classrooms.

An assessment tool was created as part of action research to measure whether the students have the required bench mark as far as reading is concerned
