Understanding Kinetic theory of Matter through Activities

Duration: 45 minutes  

The objective of this module is to help students understand the kinetic theory of matter - that particles are in constant motion and spread in all directions. Through the experiments and activities suggested in this module, students will be able to analyze the effect of temperature on diffusion.

Observing the process of diffusion - Using incense sticks, students will closely observe the process of diffusion. Through this, they will understand that the molecules will spread from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration.

Effect of Temperature on rate of movement of particles - Through this activity the students will measure the effect of temperature on the rate of diffusion in liquids.

Assessment: A quick assessment can be conducted after this module to check for the comprehension level of students.
