Grade: VIII

Duration: 90 minutes

Classification of objects based on certain criteria is an important skill, and this is done in science to understand things better. It allows for the deepening of one’s understanding about something based on certain common properties that are observed.

In this module, emphasis is being laid on helping students acquire this skill by making them differentiate between metals and non-metals. The students will learn to classify objects into metals and non-metals based on their observations of a few physical properties.

Classifying as metals and non-metals: The students will have to investigate the physical properties of a given set of materials and categorize the materials as metals and non-metals. A worksheet that has been provided will help them collate their observations.
