A royal honour of remembrance to my teachers

In life we learn morals and values from great personalities we respect. It starts right from our childhood, through our teachers. As Teachers Day is round the corner, it’s a wonderful time to remember and pay respects to all those teachers who have been influential in making me the person who I am today.

Her basic values, patience and care for us made me love my teacher Mrs. Razia, a lovely personality. I have many unforgettable memories of hers.

My English teacher Mrs. Nirmala’s care and guidance helped me learn the value of truth and instilled good attitude and righteousness in me.

My Tamil teacher Ms. Tamarai saw my curiosity to learn and used to take me to her home every evening. A person of soft nature, she patiently taught me and helped me understand the language. I love her a lot and she is like a mother to me.

Initially I was a bit fearful of my Mathematics teacher Mr. Sethuraman. However, he was good to all students and he had a unique method of teaching Mathematics. Interestingly, my children also had the fortune to learn from him.

Then there is the legend  Mr. Gopal Rajaram. He has a very good mastery over his  subject on which he can talk volumes and he has a very unique teaching style.

His lectures and especially the questions posed by him, make us think and explore more on our own. His way of weaving the content along with philosophy was fascinating.  In fact, he was the one who initiated in me a curiosity and interest towards teaching. It can even be said that he created the path to bring out the best in me. I respect him for his vast knowledge as well as his virtues.

‘In life we need to meet the right people at the right time’ and I was lucky enough to have met Mr. Gopal. I might be among the thousands in whose lives he brought about a transformation. There are many people who have influenced me, many tragedies that have made me strong, but he was the person who initiated a big bang in my life. There are not enough words to describe my gratitude to him. However, I want to thank him for inspiring me to be  the person I am now. I surrender my respects as an honour to him. He is like a godfather to me.
