Activity 1: Using ice-cream sticks for counting.

This is a supporting activity for the exercise given in  the book in page numbers 117 to 121 and 131 to 132. Here, the CRA-based approach is used to give students a hands-on, drawing, and written-work experience.

Resources:

  1. Ice-cream sticks—a concrete material is provided.
  2. Tens and ones chart—Used for writing numbers in tens and ones. The teachers can also use this as a chart.

Worksheets attached:

Worksheet 1: This is a supportive worksheet for the book activity given in pages 117 to 121 and pages 131 to 132. The objective of this worksheet is to write the numbers in the form of tens and ones.

Worksheet 2: This is a supportive worksheet for the book activity given in pages 119 to 121. The objective of this worksheet is to draw the number of sticks based on a given number.

Worksheet 3: This worksheet is used for grouping the sticks, which helps students pratice fast counting and gain the knowledge of tens and ones through grouping and counting.

Worksheet 4: This worksheet helps with group countings, and it also helps in subitizing the numbers.

Worksheet 5: This worksheet is used to address and observe the misconception – order irrelevence. For example, when counting 56, students may make a mistake and circle it as 65.

Worksheet 6: This is a supportive worksheet for the exercise given in page 122 of the book. This worksheet will provide an interactive way to find the missing numbers and write it down.
