About the speaker:

Mohan Hirabai Hiralal , is the founder of Vrikshamitra whose primary focus is on environment, forest livelihood and self-rule (Swaraj) by people. He is also proactively involved in the Sarvodaya movement and in Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Wahini of Jayaprakash Narayan in Maharashtra.  Mohan Hiralal’s knowledge and guidance have helped the people of Mendha (Lekha) in Gadchiroli to initiate, structure and follow the principles of Gram Swaraj, and to focus on women's participation, forest conservation, cultural rights, youth empowerment, sustainability and equity.

The webinar will be on "Experiment of Mendha(Lekha) towards Gram Swaraj & learning from it” where Mohan Hiralal would share his journey in Menda’s Gram Swaraj which is a successful experiment that is convincing people that Gandhian politics can lead the world towards a humane society based on equality and non-violence. Mendha’s Gram Sabha gave the slogan - "Our government is in Delhi Mumbai, in our village we are the government!".
